Original idea outline for Fashion Rocks, a video on Alternative Fashion and Camden

Ok so this I wrote about a year and a half ago, the initial idea for the Camden/Alternative Fashion video, some of what is written is changed from the idea stage to the actual video itself, the video can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAZxiGCNrQA&feature=channel_video_title

Cw project idea:

Topic: Fashion –sort of linked with music

Name: Fashion rocks

Idea summary: Basically starts of as an intro to fashion then talk about the wide range of unique non mainstream fashion then use the example of alternative clothing, give examples of different places that offer and then specialise to Camden, my purpose is to inform about Camden –in its current state and in its history, and be entertaining for the audience.

Audience: My audience is mostly teenagers however the history aspects may interest an older audience also my film is generally aimed at those interested/who wear alternative clothing.

Content:

Opening scene around 30 seconds to a minute of models cat-walking-use some sort of urban or rock type backing from Garage band so it is copy-free I’ll have one set of models wearing whatever the latest trend is and another set wearing alternative clothing then have credits come on over the top saying “Fashion Rocks” then go on to introduce topic by walking through the middle of my line of models. Then also film closing statement as well to put in at the end to round it off ending the same way as beginning it. With this option I will use a PD170 Camera, tape, office chair –use it as a dolly to move the camera on for tracking type shots, tripod for fixed shots.
– BACKUP if I can’t find appropriate models in time I will just do an introduction on my own setting up a fixed tripod (using a PD170 and tape) in a Gothic room in my own house wearing alternative clothing and may make a cut-away image to use in my introduction of a group of people standing wearing alternative clothing (fixed shot). –This way I can still show a variety of alternative clothing in my introduction and it will be quicker and easier to film than my first option. Then also film closing statement as well to put in at the end to round it off ending the same way as beginning it.

I will give a description of Camden from facts I have found and include opinions from the public that I gathered on my survey. I will give a brief description of what Camden used to be like, at the beginning of the video I will show a positive light on Camden but then introduce the opinion that it is getting more for tourists and there is less variety. For these parts filming talking about Camden I will take a few Establishing shots of Camden and record my voice on a zoom to edit it in later and will also record a variety of shots talking about Camden, a few still shots, low angle shots possibly and some shots walking around in Camden. I will probably use a handy-cam for this as it will be easier to use in Camden due to crowds etc and I will use a zoom to record my voice on in case it doesn’t pick up well and Camden can be a crowded and noisy place.

Camden as a tourism spot, culture in Camden- they have a lot of Asian run shops and different food places,

and several different venues- I plan to film outside Camden Roundhouse while talking about Camden's music scene (as music does play a big part on fashion)-do small section on band shirts, badges, belts and other accessories.

Also I have now decided to interview Zoe Wragg who is going to study fashion in college next year and has a broad knowledge of a little known alternative brand called Lolita which she has wearing for around 3 years. She will be talking about the brand and helping me film. Also Nikki Samani will help me with filming in Camden as she is doing an art piece on tattoos and filming there also.

I will obtain interviews with stall people/shop workers, the guy who sells the 2 for £5 shirts will ALLWAYS talk when given the chance so I’m certain he will give me an interview and I’m sure others will too.

Obtain interviews with people OUTSIDE of Camden that have been there or have heard about it but not went and get their opinions on the fashion that is available there. And ask them what they think fashion is- stage an answer if necessary saying that fashion is an individuals style whatever they want to wear- these interviews will be slotted in where necessary.

Stop and ask picture cards of models of one wearing sort of in fashion clothes and other in alternative wear and ask people which is in fashion I will do this in the high street in Uxbridge.

Conclude on findings most likely about how fashion may be seen a particular way but the alternative market is still a thriving one with a lot more expression and individuality and how “at first I thought fashion was boring, but then I realised for some people “fashion rocks” (title of my video) then closing credits.
